As it continues to dominate the box office, Disney just announced that The Avengers will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 25, 2012.
Remember when director Joss Whedon told fans to expect 30 minutes of deleted scenes with the movie’s home video release? Well, all that bonus footage will be available on the movie’s Blu-ray edition, which will feature bookending alternate opening and ending scenes featuring Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. Other features on the four-disc combo pack include a gag reel, Assembling the Ultimate Team featurette, a Second Screen feature, and a commentary from Whedon himself. The DVD version is pretty slim on the bonus goodies, just including the commentary.
And there’s rumors of a ten-disc set that would include all the Marvel movies (Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America). If that rumor comes true, better warm up that butt imprint on your couch. (Source)

Cobie Smulders has set a wedding date in September, more than three years after becoming engaged. The 30-year-old actress’ comedian partner Taran Killam proposed over the Christmas break in 2008, and she gave birth to their daughter, Shaelyn Cado, the following May.
The couple chose to concentrate on being parents before becoming husband and wife.
She had previously said: “We’re focused on the baby right now, and when we actually have a second (child), then we’ll start thinking about that (getting married).”
While she may not be pregnant, her newly-released Marvel’s motion picture The Avengers- which stars Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L Jackson, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth amongst others - is doing extremely well at the box office internationally.
She revealed after a whirlwind promotional tour with her castmates they have only recently had time to organise exchanging vows.
The actress told Us Weekly: “We finally have time to sit down and plan this wedding.”
But she admitted their three-year-old little girl is more excited than them about their legal union. Colbie added: “She really wants a dress.”
Marvel’s The Avengers opened as the top film in U.S. and Canadian theaters, kicking off the summer movie season with a record $200.3 million in sales this weekend for Walt Disney Co. (DIS) Revenue topped the previous best of $169.2 million set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 last year, researcher Hollywood.com Box-Office said today in an e-mailed statement. Analysts had forecast sales of $150 million to $170 million for “The Avengers.”
Summer ticket sales are expected to surpass the record of $4.4 billion set last year, according to Jeff Bock, box-office analyst at Exhibitor Relations Co. Other films scheduled in the coming weeks include Warner Bros.’ The Dark Knight Rises, directed by Christopher Nolan, and Sony Corp. (6758)’s Men in Black 3, a sequel that reunites Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as government agents managing Earth’s secret alien population.
The Avengers is the first Marvel movie Disney is distributing since buying the comic-book company for $4.2 billion in 2009. The movie provides Burbank, California-based Disney with a hit after the box-office failure of “John Carter,” the science-fiction film released in March that resulted in a $200 million loss for the company.
