  2. Michael Ausiello Talks Possible “HIMYM” Season 9

Michael Ausiello from TVline.com weighs in on the possibility of a ninth season of How I Met Your Mother. Will it happen? We sure hope so! Check out what the man behind “Ask Ausiello” had to say:

Question: Any update on the talks to bring How I Met Your Mother back for a ninth season?
Ausiello: They’re about to begin. But multiple sources stressed to me that the path to an official renewal will be long and (possibly) bumpy. According to one insider, CBS and producer 20th Century Fox Television have had preliminary discussions to set a framework for upcoming negotiations. Translation: They have talked about setting a time to talk. But before both sides can hatch a new licensing fee agreement, 20th has to close new deals with the cast and producers. So it’s probably best to table this until around January.

It isn’t a no! (So far).

  3. "How I Met Your Mother" Season 9 Renewal?

CBS wants to give the team behind How I Met Your Mother some advance notice about an end date so the show can actually live up to its title. So although Season 8 hasn’t even started filming yet, the network is already talking with producer 20th Century Fox TV about Season 9.

Variety reports the network and studio have had some preliminary discussions about giving the show another season. Talks have started earlier than usual so the show’s creative team can have extra time to either work toward an ending or tease out another year — and also because none of the show’s five stars nor creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays is under contract beyond the 2012-13 season.

How I Met Your Mother had a ratings resurgence last season, averaging 9.7 million viewers and a 4.1 rating in adults 18-49, up from 8.8 million and 3.5 in 2010-11. Its audience also has the youngest median age of any CBS show, and with Two and a Half Men moving to Thursdays in the fall, it’s now by far the longest-running member of the network’s Monday comedy block.

As is the case with any long-running show, though, the price tag is going up. Each member of the cast — Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris — has enjoyed success outside the show as well, and it stands to reason they’d want sizable raises to return for a ninth year. Bays and Thomas also have a new show, The Goodwin Games, set for midseason at FOX.

What do you think? Should How I Met Your Mother wrap things up this season, or does the show have another year in it after that? (Source)

  4. "How I Met Your Mother" Season 8 Premiere Date

While some of the other networks are stretching out the premieres of their 2012-13 shows, almost all of CBS’ new and returning shows will debut during the week of September 24th. The one exception is Survivor. The 25th cycle of that reality show will premiere September 19th.

Fans can look forward to the season 8 premiere of How I Met Your Mother on Monday, September 24th (8:00-8:30 p.m.).

  6. Could Cobie Make an Appearance in “Iron Man 3?”

Iron Man 3 is shooting in North Carolina. This is a fact. Avengers star Cobie Smulders will be reprising her role as Maria Hill in “Iron Man 3.” This is a rumor. Smulders recently paid a visit to North Carolina. This is a fact, and this is a tweet to prove it.

North Carolina you are beautiful… twitter.com/CobieSmulders/…

    — Cobie Smulders (@CobieSmulders) June 29, 2012

So, Smulders is in North Carolina, the same state where Iron Man 3 is shooting. Definitive proof that Hill will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new go-to S.H.I.E.L.D. representative, starting as soon as the next “Iron Man” film? Hardly, but what was already an interesting rumor is made all the more plausible by this latest development.

Of course, it would make sense to have Maria Hill in an “Iron Man” movie. Hill and Tony Stark have crossed paths on many memorable occasions in the comics, for one thing. For another, Stark in the movies has always found some connection to S.H.I.E.L.D., whether through Coulson or even the big chief himself, Nick Fury. Even though “Iron Man 3” is supposed to separate Tony from the greater Marvel universe, it makes sense for S.H.I.E.L.D. to have some presence in the movie — and outside of Black Widow, Hill gets my vote as the most natural way to continue that relationship. 7. Will There Be a Standalone Nick Fury Film?

Rumors are circling that Marvel Studios is planning on developing a Nick Fury Film. According to Internet Movie Database, Andrew W. Marlowe has written a screenplay based on the characters created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Samuel L. Jackson reportedly signed a 9 picture deal with Marvel to portray Nick Fury in 9 different movies, but nothing is confirmed for a Nick Fury standalone project. It is rumored that Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson will be featured as the main cast. No director has been attached to the film and no release date has been set.

The IMDB plot outlined is as follows:

A daring amateur boxer from Hells Kitchen is recruited by the Army for some top-secret assignments. He soon is promoted to captain, where he puts together the First Attack Squad, a group of elite soldiers who carry out elite missions.

Please keep in mind, IMDB is not a confirmed/done deal website - it is user updated. Please take caution when reading any unconfirmed projects.

  8. We Were Named Fan Carpet’s Fan Site of the Day!

Thank you to The Fan Carpet for naming Cobie Smulders Fan their fan site of the day for June 24th. We are honored and thrilled to receive such recognition! Much appreciated!

  9. Cobie Signs On For Two New Films!

Cobie has signed on for two new film roles, according to Variety. The first is called Safe Haven, directed by Lasse Hallstrom and starring Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough. The story follows a young woman whose arrival in a small North Carolina town prompts its tight-knit community to question her mysterious past. Smulders will play a neighbor. “Safe Haven” is based on the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks.

The second film is called They Came Together, starring the lovable Paul Rudd and helmed by Role Models director David Wain. This appears to be a bit of a bigger role for Smulders, as she will play Rudd’s girlfriend. Assuming the film is a comedy, this will hopefully allow Smulders to bust out the comic chops we regularly see on CBS’, How I Met Your Mother.

No word yet on when these films are set to arrive, but Smulders fans can at least rest easy knowing their girl has more work on the horizon. (Source)
